The other is a flawed pick, but one that I couldn’t stop thinking about.

Windblown

Windblown’s an early accessroguelikethat I thought looked a bit middling when it was first revealed.

Then I gave it a whirl and I was proven totally, totally wrong.

It’s a shame no-one is really talking about it, so here I am to rectify that.

You’re to battle through them, gradually getting stronger as you go.

The dash is sublime - very snappy, very fast, very spammable.

Shin chan sits on a clifftop bench and looks out at a lake under an amber sky. An old man stands nearby and looks out, too. Shiro the dog stands nearby.

It’s all been well thought through, with music that goes a lot harder than it needs to.

And honestly, I love the fact that it’s co-op.

It’s rare you get to play a roguelike like this with a pal and it manages it well.

In all honesty, it’s not helping me write this up.

Akita is presented through gorgeous, dreamy vignettes.

Rice paddies lit by the sparkle of fireflies.

The reflection of the stream bubbling underneath a quaint road.

The rattle of the cicadas underscoring everything.

The overarching theme being that the Japanese countryside is being forgotten and it shouldn’t be.

Those better than the spiritless deals offered by the corpos in grey cities.

Those that can offer a richer life, one marked by community and crystal blue sky.
