Ubisoft's arena shooter XDefiant needs to do more to stand out from the crowd

That’s some unbelievably tough competition.XDefianthas to either give players something completely different, or absolutelynailthe basics. Clean movement, solid gunplay, easy to dive into. Essentially, this is the vanilla ice cream of arena shooters. You’ve got the Echelon, fromSplinter Cell- they’re the flankers. Then there’s the Cleaners fromThe Division- they’re the DPS. Libertad hails from theFar Cryseries, they’re your support characters. Phantoms, fromGhost Recon, are your tanks. And Deadsec are the hackers, fromWatch Dogs....

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened review: a creepy Lovecraftian jaunt for Frogwares fans

Which is to remake the old Lovecraft-themed Sherlock Holmes game, but with new assets. I think there’s a glimmer of greatness in the very fact of its constraints. John Watson believes in the supernatural, more specifically God (emotional, a fool! The locations are smaller, so the signposting is easier to follow. These are all improvements! I often think that Frogwares' vaulting ambition is what spreads their games thin. The game feels more focused in general, even if it’s by necessity....

Wartales review: a grimy medieval fantasy RPG rife with emergent stories

Instead, youll find their tastefully dressed corpses in the loot menu afterwards. Ghoulishly, the loot all option doesnt add their cadavers to your inventory with the rest. I did not bury him. My troupe would feast, sleep, and then Id find The Tanks corpse back in my inventory again....

What's better: unit veterancy, or rerolling dice?

Last time, you decided thatbioluminescence is better than dark darkness. You want not just light but eerie, near-magical light, and I can understand that. We’re doing science here, we can’t go groping about in the dark. This week, I ask you to choose between a reward for caution and a dare to be reckless.
