Starfield review: surely, the best Starfield game you'll ever play

Its the same heady brew of role-playing possibilities weve come to expect from the resourceful creator ofAbandoned Bog. The only real limit here is your imagination. And now, a confession: I havent yet finished Starfield. But my lack of progress is mainly a question of less than ideal review conditions. I owe you a proper write-up.)

Starfield's map is even worse than Fallout and Skyrim's

The question isn’t where, but when? I’m referring here to the planet surface map. To initiate the planetside you have to open your scanner first, andthencan open a “surface map”. This conjures the aforementioned blue void, which makes sense from at least one point of view. In practise when you’re playing, it’s a little annoying in the more authored, quest-dense areas. The example picture up top is from New Atlantis, the first big city you go to....

Starfield: How to pickpocket

Of course, you could pickpocket inStarfield, but it isn’t as simple as you might expect. How to pickpocket in Starfield To pickpocket in Starfield, you must take the Theft skill. Selecting either of these classes means you will start with the ability to pickpocket NPCs. The skill for Theft allows you to pickpocket smaller items from an NPC, such as food or money. The 12 best Starfield builds we've found so far

For this example, we’ve gone with a Shotgun-focused Grenadier. Because what’s better than a Grenadier? A Grenadier who can set fire to enemies with their jetpack. Simple, but very effective, it turns out! And that’s on top of the passive health regeneration you get from the Tier 4 skill Rejuvenation. Pirate Captain What started out as a bit of build-crafting fun turned into a powerful and versatile Starfield build. The cherry on top is the Deception skill, which allows you to bypasscontrabandscans far more easily....

The Lord Of The Rings: Return To Moria has a lot in common with Valheim and... PowerWash Simulator

It is - and I promise Ill stop with the Valheim comparisons soon - very Valheim in its presentation. Where Moria differs to a massive degree is its story and in its setting. Dumont says theyve done their utmost to make Moria feel like an authentic extension of J.R.R. Instead, maps seem to be a set of corridors with T-Junctions occasionally sprouting off them. Had it been night, we wouldve been in for a much tougher time, he said....

Todd Howard hails Starfield as "our best performing game" and Starfield redditors as "gaming's smartest fans"

The full thing is below: I knocked on Robert Altman’s door. “Got a few minutes?” It was early 2013, we were developing Fallout 4, and Skyrim was still enjoying enormous success. I was there to pitch him on our next game. It would delve into creation and the search for our place in the universe (slight twinkle). You would explore the galaxy in ways only video games can do. And it would be called - Starfield....

Midway-esque double-A horror shooter Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is out now

The second game, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, launches today. The washed-out, cadaver-on-concrete set dressing? The gimmicky ice-gun and scanner mode puzzles? The not-so-subtle undertones of Monolith and Midway? Characters with big glowy gadgets on their backs, so you could track them through poorly-lit warehouses? Get a load of that trailer. There’s a Steam demo if you’re interested. I have a pet theory that retro-themed game development is entering the era of the “post-boomer shooter”....

Pong is getting a "creative sequel" in which you play the ball

That’s a paddlin' OK, so unlike the Gollum game, Qomp 2 does seem pretty swish. I am getting pungent whiffs of Labyrinth Zone, and there are some nice single-screenPac-Man-meets-Celeste puzzle setups in there. The logical plotline here is surely for the left paddle to return as the final boss. You might also be interested inthis Pong homage from Bennett “Getting Over It” Foddy.
