New Counter-Strike 2 update adds workshop features, removes birds which players kept mistaking for grenades

Flock, stock and two smoking barrels Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s worth noting that Counter-Strike players haven’t always been this mad about birds invading maps. Back in 2016, the developers dressed up chickens in Xmas jumpers to ring in the festive season. Alice0 and Pip (RPS in peace) wereenthused enough to write a whole feature about it. Are you playing/enjoying Counter-Strike 2? Where does it rank on the pecking order next to other first-person shooters?...

Operate strange machinery in these great free horror games

No, absolutely you do not get a gun. Hell, most the machines that developer Mike Klubnika has created for us don’t even have a manual. Play a deadly game of Battleship inside a walled city block. Take a job fishing for samples with a claw machine inside a hive of giant spiders. While it riffs onHalf-Life’sBlack Mesa, your work is far more involved than Gordon Freeman pushing a trolley. Watch me demonstrate a day’s work in this video:...

Vampire Survivors Adventures update adds story modes, defying God and Man

“What if the real official lore was the friends we made along the way?” That’s according to developer Poncle, who are clearly in a whimsical mood this week. Don’t take the backstory stuff too seriously, in other words. You’re here to scythe down zombies with holy crosses. “The other Adventure will be as absurd as you’d usually expect from Vampire Survivors.” There’s no limit on how many times you’re free to Ascend an Adventure....

We challenged Final Fantasy XIV fans to real-life Triple Triad matches to celebrate 10 years of the MMO

(Square Enix provided entrance and accommodation for the event.) It’s been amazing, fantastic, Sam said of the weekend so far. ‘I’m a bard!’ I had a friend who was very persistent. He tried to get me into it once, I bounced right off. He tried to get me into it again. I got to about level 40, bounced off. I tried again, I kept playing - and I’m still playing today....

If Baldur's Gate 3 is too vast, try co-op-friendly 30 hour fantasy RPG For The King 2, which launches today

For The King2, at least, seems pretty trim and digestible at a reported 30 hours in length. And by that I mean it has absolutely no qualms about murdering you." What does For The King 2 add? A new game engine, for one thing, and four-player support, for another. I’m a little underwhelmed by the chonky visuals, but I do like me a tidily-made grid system. Hopefully they’ve had a bit more fun with the writing this time....

Latest Baldur's Gate 3 update adds colour-blind settings, hireling customisation and best of all, sponge baths

No more rocking up to cutscenes looking like Sweeney Todd on his lunchbreak! Well, unless that’s your vibe. Rage can no longer be used while under the effects of Calm Emotions. Fixed some NPCs being able to shoot through floors and ceilings. They’ve said they’ll play fair. Scratch’s ball will now be harder to lose. If you lost his ball, go see him at camp and he might give it back....

Payday 3's first patch is here, with lots of minor fixes

It mostly includes “minor fixes”, but lots of them. Sure enough, the list is long, and mostly focused on basic fixes for bugs. As you know, all marathons begin with the runners hurling themselves down a flight of stairs. Since then, Starbreeze have alsopledged to rework the game’s progession systemsbased on feedback. “I can’t say exactly what yet. Those changes aren’t in this update, however. It’s a step, at least.

RoboCop: Rogue City review: a good RoboCop game, but a middling FPS

This big guy is clunky, boxy, and has insane system requirements devoted to creating dazzling reflections. However, stand it next to other RoboCop games (maybe even the movies?) and it suddenly looks like a masterpiece in chrome. “RoboCop goes to therapy” is, by itself, an excellent elevator pitch. But the ensuing bedlam lacks that laser focus and quickly becomes messy. It doesn’t end well. I’m being transparent here, RoboFans, I never really “got” RoboCop....
