It’s part of the planned obsolescence of the Quest 1 which Meta announced last year.
If it’s not already obvious, I think this sucks.

New Quest apps will be unable to support Oculus Quest 1 headsets from May
Oculus Quest 1 was released in 2019 and Meta announced they were ending support for the device last year. Come May, new apps won't even be allowed on it.
