We’ve had one story ending, but what about the second story of Monster Hunter Wilds?
Now we’re off to the Scarlet Forest to survey what’s new.
For now, speak with Olivia in the Windward Plains Base Camp.

This will transport you to the Scarlet Forest after a cutscene.
Once you’re ready, it’s time to find the Wudwuds.
As always, they use their talent for explaining creatures to tell us about the Yian Kut-Kumonstersnearby.

And similar to ourfirst encounter with the Congalala, they don’t let you set an ambush.
And remember what Alma said - your goal is to capture.
If you’re not sure how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, here’s a quick explainer.

First, damage the monster until they have a floating skull icon above their icon on the minimap.
If your Palico is with you, they’ll point out that the monster is weak.
Second, get them into a trap.

As long as the monster is vulnerable to it, it works.
Then, use twoTranq Bombswhile standing close to the trapped monster.
That’s all there is to capturing monsters.
Now let’s get into tips for the actual fight!
Despite being a wyvern, the Yian Kut-Ku is quite a small monster to fight.
Aside from generic attacks, the Yian Kut-Ku spits fireballs when enraged.
This is their main behaviour where they’ll attempt to inflict Fireblight.
As long as you avoid the fireballs and use the environment to your advantage, you should be okay.
Capturing the Yian Kut-Ku completes Chapter 4-1 and themain mission, New Ecosystems.
This unlocks high-rank environments where you’ll find tougher monsters in each area now.
