Space to grow

My day inLightyear Frontierstarts out with a bit of farming.

On a good day, its raining, so I dont need to water the crops.

My goals are clear.

A red mech stands in a flowery field with a large planet visible in the background in Lightyear Frontier

Those will you guessed it let me build new machines or upgrade my mech again.

When I get back Ill have everything I need to take the next step.

It always feels like Im making forward progress.

The sun casts a bright glow over Lightyear Frontier’s green landscape.

And then theres PIP-3R.

Or at least talk at, since you cant reply.

Those three aside, its just me and the planet.

Farming on a rainy day in Lightyear Frontier.

Wake up, farm, process, explore, build, sleep.

Its both meditative and full of momentum.

I can also imagine, though, that co-op play would not last very long right now.

Building a wind turbine in Lightyear Frontier.

One aspect of that slower playstyle I didnt really touch at all was the chance to decorate.

I also crawled to sleep every night in the original tiny tent that I made, rather thanbuildinganything bigger.

The thing is, building anything in Lightyear Frontier felt kind of mean.

Sunset casts an orange glow over Lightyear Frontier’s green valleys.

The planet is gorgeous; all twisted, multicoloured trees and flowering shrubs and glittering crystals.

The game feels like it might be building towards subverting this but Im not sure.

It opens on a stark line: Earths no good anymore.

A mech looks out at a lush, green environment in Lightyear Frontier.

But then I fall back into the day to day cycle.

Im planting at least a few trees to replace the ones Ive shredded, so thats okay, right?

So it would probably be fine, right?

If I fenced off my farm.

If I made it pretty.

Whether Ill be satisfied in the end, though, remains to be seen.
